This gave me a more firm steering, but didn't really change the speed or fact that I would fight the motor at speed, but it tracked a little straighter with the thicker fluid. Worn out with the excessive cost of the sea star specific hydraulic fluid, I switched over to all ATF fluid. Get it back from the dealer, on water test, no significant change in the manners.Īfter both of these events, the steering fluid would purge itself from the purge on the helm. Then I took it to the dealer and have them hook it up to a bubble blaster, the service writer shook the motor (as I have in this video) and said "yep, you have air in the line". Took it for an on the water test, no significant positive change in the boat's manners and steering characteristics. When I thought there might be bubbles in the line, I bled the fluid and when I exchanged out the old fluid, what I captured looked rust-tinged. Since acquiring this new to me 2015 year model boat, I've always felt like the steering had a mind of its own.
